‘Honeymoon with My Mother’: Bonding on a tropical island

Seconds before José Luis (Quim Gutiérrez) can officially marry a young woman named Teresa (Celia Freijeiro), the supposed love of his life, she dumps him at the altar and leaves with another man. Luis, understandably, is devastated. However, his inability to cancel the upcoming honeymoon leaves him with a rare opportunity to grieve and process this betrayal on a beautiful tropical island renowned for its pristine beaches. There was just one catch: his mom, Mari Carmen (Carmen Machi), is determined to go with him. Having never seen the world as a young woman, she jumps at the chance to travel and get pampered. This trip, however, also allows her to look out for her heartbroken son.

‘Hard Cell’ features Catherine Tate playing six roles

“Hard Cell,” Netflix’s new six-part mockumentary about life in a women’s prison, was released on April 12. In addition to being the creator, co-writer and director of the show, Catherine Tate plays six different characters in the first season alone, including Laura, the prison’s governor, a wise-cracking guard named Marco, three separate inmates and a bitter mother who despises her incarcerated daughter.

‘Windfall’ review: Money or happiness?

Netflix’s newest thriller, “Windfall” is a story about three people, none of whom are given names. They are known only as Nobody (Jason Segel), CEO (Jesse Plemons), and Wife (Lily Collins). Directed by Charlie McDowell, and written by Justin Lader and Jason Segel, the story begins when Nobody, a generally gruff and unhappy but non-confrontational man, breaks into the CEO and Wife’s vacation house.

TMT stuns with ‘The Addams Family’

Performed for the first time by TCNJ Musical Theatre (TMT) on Feb. 24 in Kendall Hall, “The Addams Family” featured an array of entertaining dance numbers, flower petals and comedic scenes that kept audience members on their toes. The result was a standing ovation and rave reviews about everything from the talented performers to the realistic costumes they wore.

‘Don’t Look Up’ review: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence star in a bleak, end-of-the-world film

In the film, two astronomers discover the comet, Michigan State Ph.D. candidate Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) and her professor, Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio). They do everything they can to educate the public about the impending strike, the resulting consequences and implications....However, the astronomers are ridiculed, silenced and ignored. In the end, none of their efforts are enough.

‘Encanto’ review: Latest Disney film teaches us to live authentically

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ released its newest animated feature “Encanto” in theaters on Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Day. The movie lived up to every expectation I had. “Encanto” is refreshingly comedic while also powerful, serving as a reminder that the act of storytelling is intrinsic to living a good life because stories can remind us of what is truly important.
