Tesla sales plummet amid Elon Musk backlash

After Elon Musk voiced his support for President Donald Trump’s administration and far right parties in Europe, Tesla has now become a subject of boycotts and political protests. Musk’s right-wing shift is not sitting well with Tesla shareholders and potential buyers, a majority of whom identify as liberal, according to PBS.

Black Lives Matter Plaza dismantled in Washington, D.C.

After President Donald Trump pledged to eliminate “wokeness” in America, construction workers began removing the city’s Black Lives Matter street mural in Washington, D.C., on March 10. The Trump administration also recently revived congressional efforts to put Washington back under direct federal control, according to AP News.

Volkswagen announces plans to close three car plants in Germany

In late October, Volkswagen announced that it plans to close three of its factories in Germany. The car company is known to have a long standing relationship with the country for over 87 years. According to Bloomberg, this move was made due to financial setbacks Volkswagen has faced in the last five years, with sales declining more by 15% this year alone.

Republicans take control of the Senate

The Republican Party won control of the Senate in the 2024 election. In order for a political party to declare a majority, they must win at least 50 seats. As of Nov. 13, the Republican Party garnered 53 seats, gaining four seats, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party totaled 47 seats, losing four seats and the overall majority to the Republicans.
