LA-based indie artist Hana Bryanne thinks social media is ‘sucking all of us dry’

Hana Bryanne, tired of just sitting around during the height of the pandemic, posted a snippet of her original song, “Klepto,” on TikTok, Jan. 8, 2021. Before Bryanne fell asleep, her video had only 2,000 views. The very next morning, that number shot up to over 100,000, which left her stunned. She told The Signal that, because so many people viewed and liked her TikTok (garnering 107.9K likes), she tried her best to finish the song.

The Dramaturgical Death of a Titan: ‘Succession’ 4x3 review

This past Sunday, I excitedly sat down with my friend to watch “Connor’s Wedding,” the third episode of the final season of HBO Max original series, “Succession.” As a big “Conhead,” I was so excited to see an episode focused on Connor for once. My friend, on the other hand, told me immediately she was skeptical that the episode was about Connor’s wedding. I should have listened to her, since HBO originals and weddings are rarely a good mix. Little did we know how quickly things would derail, and little did we know that we were about to watch one of the best episodes of television ever.

TikTok star Pearl Cooley is blending internet fame with mental health advocacy

It was a warm June day nearly a year ago when Pearl Cooley was at a local In-N-Out Burger restaurant in California filming what would be one of the first of her many viral TikTok videos. She propped her phone up in the outdoor eating section of the restaurant, hit record, and began to act as if she was auditioning for “America’s Got Talent.” Her now famous “audition” song — her own rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” — is what ultimately led her to be recognized everywhere she goes.

‘Prom Pact’ has nothing on Disney Channel Originals

Since the launch of Disney+, the streaming service has been producing original content very similar to the beloved Disney Channel Original Movies. Their latest release, “Prom Pact,” has a familiar feel to the original’s I grew up loving, which was something I could really appreciate.

Campus Fashion: Kerry Glacken

Interviewed for this edition of campus style was junior history and secondary education major Kerry Glacken, whose Phoebe Bridges inspired style is a refreshing and glamorously dark spin on the classic sorority girl’s wardrobe. Glacken’s self-styled outfit was equal parts model off duty and young professional, which played perfectly into the editorial-esqe photo shoot pictured above. The small details of the outfit, including her copper-colored wire and glass eyeball ring, reflected her sentiments of the weird, unusual, yet fabulous finding a home in her closet.
