Season four of “Only Murders in the Building” continued with a new episode being released every week. This season premiered on Aug. 27, and the season finale occurred on Oct. 29. The three unlikely friends, Charles, Mabel and Oliver, are thrown into a mystery they never expected.
The season picks up with the death of Charles's friend Sazz being a mystery to the three amateur detectives, and with the unknown suspect still on the loose, the trio is left in the dark.
Charles, Mabel and Oliver are swept away to Los Angeles with a chance to turn their podcast into a movie, but their dream project is cut short as the trio finally learns the truth about Sazz’s disappearance.
This brings them back home to New York on a new journey, creating another series for their podcast. The group continues their investigation, putting their brains together to try to solve the murder of Sazz.
Their new findings lead them to possible suspects and witnesses causing new problems to arise during their investigation. This makes it even more challenging for the three of them to solve the murder.
This sends them on a more confusing journey. However, any watcher knows everything always comes together in the end for this group.
This season was very enjoyable and entertaining compared to the ones before. Since season one, nothing has compared to the humor and nostalgia it brought me. The last two seasons fell short for me, so I was more eager than ever for this new season.
As the season continued, it was clear I was not going to be disappointed. This season had me captivated throughout its entirety. The end of every episode left me confused but even more invested in what was going to happen next.
The plot twists this season were unexpected and brought the show to the next level. There were new surprises around every corner that left me in utter shock.
On the other hand, I did not love the abundant number of new characters that were added to the show. Many characters being introduced so quickly into an already-established cast created a bit of a disconnect.
Season four brought the dynamic between Charles, Mabel and Oliver back to life. This was a relief after it failed to reach my expectations in the second and third seasons. The chemistry between the actors continued to improve this season, even within simple exchanges.
Even though the often cringe humor takes some getting used to, it only adds to the show's entertainment value. The show's main agenda, which involves solving grueling murders, makes the comedic relief necessary.
This season also brought about a new intensity considering who was the main victim of this season. I think Charles having a personal connection to the victim added something special to the show. It made it more relatable for watchers, as losing a friend is a concept some people may resonate with.
The combination of this trio's oddly humorous language, along with their building's suspicious amount of murders, makes this show enjoyable during the new season.
If you are looking for an attention-grabbing, amusing murder mystery, I would tune in for this new season. Season four made me fall in love with the show all over again, and I am now even more thrilled that it has been announced to be coming back, possibly in the next year, with a fifth season on Hulu.
