Carla Faust, a sophomore business major at the College, died at the age of 19 on Monday, Nov. 25, while she was studying abroad in Heidelberg, Germany.
In an email on Tuesday, Nov. 26, College President Kathryn Foster informed the campus community of her death.
While Faust’s death is still being investigated, Foster wrote that initial reports said that a street car struck and killed her. According to her obituary, Faust was injured in a car accident that occurred in Edingen-Neckarhausen, a municipality in the German state of Baden Württemberg.
Originally from Pittstown, N.J., Faust graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 2018 and was on the College’s track and field team last year. She was bi-literate in German and enjoyed her time studying abroad.
“She loved her time in Germany and expressed an interest in relocating there after graduation,” Foster wrote.
In her email, Foster listed the College’s resources that are available to members of the campus community as they mourn Faust’s death, including Mental Health Services, the Center for Integrative Wellness and the Employee Assistance Program.
According to the obituary, arrangements are being made by the Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Flemington, N.J.
