On Thursday, Oct. 17, sophomore Matthew Michibata traveled to Rome, Ga., where he participated in the ITA Regionals Tournament. Michibata was the sole member of the College’s tennis team to represent the Lions at the Berry College-hosted tournament, and the first since 2007.
In the opening round, Michibata fell to an opponent from Gustavus Adolphus College in two sets and soon fell in straight sets to an opponent from Emory College in the consolation round.
He then moved to the consolation bracket on Friday morning against an opponent from Salisbury University, who took the victory over Michibata in straight sets yet again.
He ends the season 8-5 in singles matches and 22-13 overall during his college career so far.
The men’s tennis team returns to the court for their spring season on Feb. 15, 2020, when it will host University of Sciences alongside the women’s team, whose schedule mirrors the men’s.
