With finals around the corner, getting away from school seems to be at the forefront of every student’s mind. But for First Daughter Malia Obama, deciding where to go to school was her top priority this week. It was announced on Sunday, May 1, that the oldest Obama daughter will attend Harvard University in Fall 2017 after taking a gap year. Both of her parents attended Harvard Law School.
As Malia gears up for her upcoming 18th birthday, England’s favorite princess Charlotte is on the brink of her first birthday. In anticipation for the birthday celebration on Tuesday, May 2, the royals released new photos of the princess. Taken by Duchess Kate Middleton, the four released photos feature Charlotte running through a meadow while laughing and looking all-around adorable. Like her mother, the princess has darker hair, contrast to her older brother, George. Her stunning blue eyes are big and memorizing as she poses for the pictures with a blue bow in her hair.
Like mother, like daughter — Middleton had a photo of herself released on Sunday, May 2, with the announcement that she will be the featured in British Vogue’s June 2016 issue. The photos will be part of a series celebrating 100 years of the magazine in a partnership with the British National Portrait Gallery. The photos of the duchess will feature her appearing in informal wear and reflect her love for the countryside.
The duchess just finished celebrating her fifth wedding anniversary with Prince William on Friday, April 29. Kelly Ripa also celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary over the weekend. The actress posted a sweet picture to Instagram to highlight her 20 years with husband Mark Consuelos. Ripa even said she recently tried on her wedding dress to prove it still fits.
The celebrations come after a rough patch for Ripa, who appeared to be blindsided by Michael Strahan’s decision to leave their morning talk show for a full-time position at “Good Morning America.” While Ripa reminisces about the journey to find her husband, she is gearing up to start the process of finding a new co-host. Much like when she found Strahan, the network plans to rotate its hosts until there is a fit.
Justin Bieber continued to make changes in his life, debuting a new haircut via Instagram on Friday, April 29. The singer switched styles from dreadlocks to a shaved head, which surprised fans and sparked the Twitter hashtag #RIPJustinHair. Bieber sported the new look at his father’s engagement party in Toronto, where he also posed for a picture with a Bengal tiger.
Selena Gomez had a hot date for the Met Gala on Monday, May 2, which featured the theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Gomez joined her best friend and event co-chair, Taylor Swift, on the red carpet. Swift didn’t appear with boyfriend Calvin Harris, but is continuing her girl squad trend. Gomez and Swift attended the Grammy’s together and ever since, they have been raising the bar for friendship goals. With the end of the semester nearing, be sure to keep your friends close and plan for a summer that is A-lister worthy.
