This fall, we’re head-over-heels for skorts. This origami-inspired article is skirt in the front, shorts in the back. Essentially the “mullet” of fashion, a skort deploys an asymmetrical hemline that is both stylish and flattering. Crossing our fingers that the beautiful weather holds up, this piece can be worn well into October. Here’s some inspiration for effortlessly pulling one off:
The Library Fashionista: Forget the arbitrary Labor Day rule and pair a white skort with a tucked-in chambray or jean shirt. Accessorize with minimal jewelry and combat boots for a simple and stylish campus look.
The Off-Duty Model: Follow the golden rule of fashion: All black is an absolute classic. Wear a black skort with a chunky black sweater that falls just above the asymmetrical hemline. For a different take on the look, tuck in a black tank top to create the appearance of a sleek LBD.
The Cher from “Clueless:” Although we’re not a fan of Skechers, Cher definitely had some foresight with her style. Channel your ’90s childhood and rock a plaid tartan skort and a button-up with a sweater.
The Feminine Mystique: Pair a mauve-colored or floral skort with a textured light-weight pullover and tan leather booties. Shades of pink are in 2014 color palettes everywhere and look great with that lingering tan!
Skort Sparknotes: you can’t go wrong with this look.
