The Lions suffered a tough loss against Rowan on Wednesday Dec. 2 in the team’s first game against a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rival. The Lions fell short in the first half and were unable to catch up to the Profs, eventually losing 84-64.
Junior forward Steve Siracusa led the team with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore guard Peter Kelly added 11 points, and senior guard Will Manhart scored 10.
Rowan maintained the lead the entire game, starting off with a 10-point lead in the first half and nearly doubling it by the second. With less than 10 minutes remaining in the second half, Lions fans began a “Defense” chant as a lay-up by Siracusa pulled them closer to tying the game. As time ran out, the Lions fell under pressure and the Profs took advantage.
“The last two games were pretty tough, but we just have to come back physically and mentally,” Siracusa said. “We need to bounce back and put the history in the past.”
The Lions will travel to William Paterson University on Saturday Dec. 5 for its second game with an NJAC rival.
