In a 9-4 vote, the Student Finance Board (SFB) approved the Homecoming Spirit Week Committee's second request for their "Lip Sync and Dance" competition, powder puff game and "Yell like Hell" at their April 22 meeting.
For the "Lip Sync and Dance" competition, they requested $1,500 for a DJ, $4,500 for chairs and stage rental, $700 for workers, $1,350 for six police officers, $70 for wrist bands for audience and performers, $70 for zip ties for chairs and $100 for trophies for the winning team. For the powder puff game and "Yell Like Hell," they requested $800 for a DJ and $400 for publicity T-Shirts.
"They have $4,000 in their budget to fund another DJ besides WTSR and they could also use fundraising money," Leo Acevedo, SFB executive director, said.
SFB allocated $500 for the DJ, $500 for chairs and stage and additional funds for a total allocation of $1,050.
SFB unanimously motioned to fund Lions Television's (LTV) request for $755, minus the cost of recruitment.
Funding would cover 500 photocopies, two full-page Signal ads, two half-page Signal ads and promotional DVDs and tapes. It would also cover the base budget for next year.
"We try to replicate an actual TV studio," Kevin Malcolm, LTV president, said. "That way when students go into the workforce they know what to expect."
In a 7-4 motion, SFB approved the TCNJ College Democrats request for $189.50 for their event "The Faces of Homelessness" to be held April 23 in Forcina 134.
"They bring formerly and currently homeless to college campuses to raise awareness," Alex Berger, College Democrats chairman, said.
Funding would cover the speaker's hotel and travel fees, as well as 100 photocopies. The Bonner Center is contributing an additional $150 toward speaker fees.
