Most students at the College over the age of 21 have probably been to KatManDu, although for anyone who may be living in a bubble, or who is turning 21 shortly, KatManDu is a must on the checklist of things that every bonafide student needs to try before graduation. So no excuses, because KatManDu is close to campus, and offers an array of entertainment, from local bands to top DJs spinning everything from house to hip- hop.
Unlike most of the bars surrounding the College, KatManDu is by far the most extravagant. Not only is KatManDu a bar, but it is also a nightclub and restaurant. Every aspect of KatManDu is taken to the next level, from the enormous dance floors, 20 TVs and outdoor decks to the large stages, multiple bars and large- screen projector. The d?cor of KatManDu is tropical, although not over-the-top. When one enters KatManDu for the first time, the granduer of it may seem somewhat overwhelming, although the atmosphere lends itself to a providing a great environment for dancing and socializing.
Since KatManDu is located on the waterfront of the Delaware River, it offers a large outdoor deck which is open when weather permits. During the summer, there is almost always a band playing or a DJ spinning. The bands vary from pop to rock while the DJs spin an assorted mix of everything from rap to dance.
Another great aspect of KatManDu is that it works hard to promote relationships with local colleges by offering a College Night on Thursdays. College Night offers dollar bottles and $3.50 house drink specials. College Night is a good time to socialize with other College students and meet other local students who attend colleges such as Rutgers University, Rider University and Temple University.
In addition, KatManDu has forged a relationship with the College by hosting Senior Nights, which began Sept. 28. The cost to attend is only $8, which pays for the cover at the Rat, the cover at KatManDu and bus transportation to and from the club. Senior Nights are held multiple times throughout the year and are promoted all over campus. In order to attend, one must be at least 21-years-of-age.
KatManDu offers a variety of events such as NFL Night on Sundays, during which the football games are shown live on the large screen projector and the 20 other televisions throughout the nightclub. The bar also offers drink specials and a seafood buffet.
On Saturdays, Mix 95.7 broadcasts live from KatManDu with DJ Joel Furness spinning music from the 80s, 90s and today. Saturday is also Ladies' Night, which allows females to enter before 10 p.m. with no cover charge.
KatManDu is not the place to go to have a couple drinks in a quiet, quaint bar. Some may find KatManDu excessive, but it is a great nightclub to go dancing, to socialize and to listen to great music. Be sure to dress in proper nightclub attire and to check if there is a cover that night.
