The College battled it out against Rider University in the 2004 Mercer County Indoor Track and Field Duals at Lawrenceville School as both the women and men won with a score of 104-84 and 109-80, respectively.
This is the third year that the dual, an intense competition of old rivals, has taken place.
The women had an impressive outing as sophomore Brittany Boyd placed first in the 55-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash.
Sophomore Tiffany Clark came in third in the 55-meter and 200-meter and finished second in the 400-meter.
Senior Beth Vesey finished the one-mile run in 5:07.67 minutes for a first place finish. In the 3k run, freshman Grace Nuzzi won with a time of 11:09.67. Sophomore Lauren Detrick came through with two first place finishes in the women s high jump and pole vault.
The Lions took a second and third place finish in the women s long jump as sophomore Alisa Vetter cleared 5.31 meters while Boyd was right behind, jumping 5.30 meters. Vetter also took first place in the triple jump with an amazing 10.78 meter jump.
For the men, sophomore Stephen Andrews came in second in the 55-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash.
The Lions had a one-two finish in the 400-meter dash as senior Kevin Semanick finished in 50.23 followed by junior Tim Wilson with a time of 50.40.
Sophomore Dan McDonald cleared the one-mile run in 4:25.74 for a first place finish.
The Lions had a great run in the 800-meter as freshman Jeff Zodda and juniors Matt Molski and junior Andrew Bordieri cruised by the Broncos with a one, two, three finish.
Junior Brian Brach led the way in the 3k and 5k run with first place finishes in both events.
In the men's high jump, junior Ed Marion took the win with a 2.00 meter jump followed by his teammate, freshman Ed Young, with a 1.90 meter jump.
The Lions came out with three more first place finishes in the pole vault, the triple jump and the shot put.
Junior Brian Wanner cleared 4.25 meters on the pole vault, freshman Colin Pierce went 13.56 meters in the triple jump and sophomore Jeff Schwerdtman threw 15.19 meters in shot put.
Sophomore Chris Tranchina came in second in the weight throw with a distance of 15.09 meters.
Overall, the Lions fought hard as the women and men combined for over 20 first place finishes.
"The team did very well and showed a strong performance," head coach Steve Dolan said. "We work hard and keep getting better."
Even with a big win against the Broncos, the Lions don't have much time to relax as they get ready for some intense competition in the New York Armory Collegiate Invitational, held on Feb. 13 and 14, where they will compete with over 30 teams followed by the New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 22.
