The College's swim team spent their spring break at the Division III National Championship, held at Emory University.
The competition got under way Thursday, March 13, and finished on Saturday, March 15.
Six members of the swim team were invited to the nationals this year, five of which were swimmers and one who was a diver. The College finished thirteenth overall.
The College's strongest finish was in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The team, comprised of seniors Jessica Naumann and Jen Sebastian, and juniors Lauren O'Donnell and Aubrey Horvath, came in third with a time of 1:36.21.
Junior Kristen Simms placed third in the women's three-meter Dive competition.
"This years squad finished the best it ever had at the nationals in previous years," coach Jennifer Harnett said.
Their thirteenth place finish beat last years by eight spots.
The team had finished fourth, but, due to an early jump start, they did not place.
"I was very satisfied with our squads performance this weekend," Coach Harnett said. "Coming in with only six swimmers and finishing so high is a great accomplishment."
"Last year, we only came down with two girls and now to have tripled that is an accomplishment in itself," she added.
Other Lions performances include the 50-yard freestyle in which Aubrey Horvath's time of 24.15 earned her sixth.
In the one-meter springboard competition, Simms placed eighth for the Lions.
In the 400-yard Medley Relay the team of Naumann, Erin Stutz, O'Donnell and Horvath placed sixteenth and went on to improve to thirteenth later in the afternoon in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The last event for the Lions was the 100-yard freesyle in which Horvath, finished fourteenth.
The Lions squad said farewell to it's senior swimmers Jessica Naumann and Jen Sebastian with a gutty performance in Georgia.
This thirteenth place finish should be a good building block for Coach Harnett and the Lions swim team as four of the six members of the squad invited to nationals will be returning for next year's season.
Kenyon Universiy was the top team in the competition finishing first overall in team point totals follwed by Williams University and host school, Emory, for the next two spots.
