Letter to the Editor: Israel revisted, again

Heads up! This article was imported from a previous version of The Signal. If you notice any issues, please let us know.

To the Editor:

I would like to commend Eli Levin for his March 4th reply to Matt Richman's highly controversial declaration of opinion. While Mr. Richman is certainly entitled to his views, Mr. Levin has the facts on his side.

Fact: A Palestinian homeland was created when the nation of Israel was created. The Palestinian people then REJECTED this homeland.

Fact: The practice of Judaism is outlawed in many Middle Eastern nations, such as Saudi Arabia. (Why is this not an issue when the alleged mistreatment of Palestinians at the hands of Israelis is?)

Fact: The rights of Palestinians to practice their religion and express their culture are protected under Israeli law.

Fact: Many Palestinians were celebrating in the streets hours after the September 11th attacks.

Opinions differ. They can be swayed to one extreme or another. Facts, however, are unyielding in their neutrality. People have the power to bend and interpret these facts in any manner they desire. However, they should, at the very least, be aware of them.
